Surgeon: Dr. William Peters, Scranton PA by Felicia: Hi, my name is Felicia. I'm 28 years old and I'm sure my story is much like everyone else's. I found myself balloon to 432lbs and was unable to do the everyday things that we take for granted. I couldn't food shop, walk, forget run. I have two children Stephen(8) and Breanna(6) and I wanted to be here for them for a long time so I knew I had to do something about my weight, but what I wasn't sure. I tried everything: Weight Watchers, Herbal life, Atkins, pill you name it, but nothing seemed to work, and with every failed attempt another 50lbs came with it. I was so scared, then I heard about WLS. At first I was like, “No way!”, but the more I researched, the more I came to realize that it was best for me. Then I contacted a few docs, but was leery about them. Then I went to see Dr. Peters and I knew he was the right man for the job. So on 8-6-02 I had the BPD/DS, and that was the best day of my life! So far I have lost 153lbs in 5 months! I feel great! I can walk, shop -- heck I can even run!!! I'm able to be a real mother! I can play and do things with them instead of sitting down and just watching them have fun. And it has only been 5 months; I can't imagine how I will feel in a year. I have been truly blessed and it wouldn't have been possible without all the love and support from my family, friends and this DS group! Thank you for listening to my story.
