Tonight's dinner:

Sauteed bok choy and chinese cabbage (from our garden!) with swordfish, tofu, scallions, ginger, garlic. Served over brown rice.

Sichuan cucumber salad with sesame seeds

Fruit salad - local strawberries, blueberries, rasberries

Please can I come and eat at your house? What you have sounds so mouth-watering compared with my plain fare (funnily enough I'm not into food and cooking much!). And I have to ask (I'm from the UK) what is a "ramp" and by "side of bacon" do you mean what we would call a "slice" or do you mean it was "on the side" (a term you Americans seem to use a lot, but here we tend to use it only for salads)? In the UK a "side of bacon" would be the equivalent of about half a pig!!

A ramp is a very early spring vegetable, sort of a wild leek but smaller.

They are native to North America, however something very similar grows in Europe and in German they are called bärlauch.

I meant in that post by "side of bacon" some slices of bacon on the side, as opposed to inside the omelette.

However a couple of years ago we purchased a "side of beef" and this meant half a cow. (We split it with other people)

Today's breakfast, which is what I've been having every day for quite some time. About 1 hour before I work out:

3 poached eggs
1 slice whole grain bread (a dense one)
Big glass of half seltzer, half grapefruit juice
1 cup of coffee

Today's breakfast for me:

2 cups of coffee
2 16-oz glasses of crystal lite OJ with my vitamins
2 fried eggs
1 slice of american cheese
5 slices of bacon
1 english muffin

I eat this almost every day! Sometimes switch the english muffin for a croissant.

How long does it take you to eat this (to me) mammoth breakfast? I could never fit all that in my stomach! And when do you next eat or does this last all day? In your photo you look so slim so maybe I'm just not eating enough!

I eat three full meals a day and definitely snack in between. I know my stomach is stretched, not to pre-surgery size but I can definitely eat at least 12 oz at a sitting. Today I had my typical breakfast and then about 1:30 I had a frozen dinner (meat loaf, mashed potatoes and veggies). Ate the whole thing. I may get hungry around 4:00 so I may have some soup or something like that. Soup is one of my favorate snacks. It's got good protein and pretty low in carbs. I also snack on hard boiled eggs, lunch meat and cheese. No carbs and all protein.

I don't count calories but I guess I eat at least 3000 calories a day. My rationale is if I absorb 50% of what I eat, then I'm getting 1500 calories, which is perfect to maintain my weight. I don't measure fat (everything I eat is full fat). I look at carbs and try to limit carbs to no more than 50 grams per meal (that's on the high side). I eat sweets every day. I usually end my day with some milk and a few cookies (I'm still a child at heart). I also eat some kind of fruit every day -- love bananas -- one per day. Summer fruit is great. Right now cherries are in season. So I may eat 10 or so.

I also exercise 3 times a week.

What can start happening if you're not eating enough is you will hit a plateau and stop losing. That's because your body thinks its being starved so it holds onto everything you are eating.

It's a hard concept to grasp, but when you hit a plateau you need to start eating more. We have a joke in the States that when you hit a plateau you go on the "krispy kreme diet". Krispy Kreme is a fabulous donut chain and if you eat a few donuts you'll start losing again. It works for some.

Well, I don't know about "Krispy Cremes" as we haven't got them (I find that name funny (odd) as I don't think doughnuts are crispy or creamy, but a couple of nights ago I had my first given into sweet urge since the op. I ate 2 small slices of cake and about a third of a bar of chocolate and didn't really enjoy them all that much, but have lost 2lbs since!

Talking about 3000 cals a day - I expect you might be familiar with this from DS Facts.com, which is called "DS Math". I came across it quite by chance and thought others might like to take a look too

I eat as much as I did pre-op. I watch my simple carbs. I exercise. I have lost most of the weight I regained.
Drewa, I urge you to NOT eat those sugary foods. That's what will slow your loss and make you regain weight.
