hey all, how\'s it going? i was just wondering if anyone used dr. ramsey dallal for their surgery? i just found his name on the duodenalswitch.com dr.\'s list (i think it\'s new) and saw that he is located in huntington beach (ca). it would be a lot more convenient to have a surgeon close to where i live that does the ds lap. i was going to stick with dr. rabkin because he can do the procedure lap, but i\'d have to go up to san francisco. so has anyone used him or at least heard if he\'s a good surgeon?
another question is: how important is it to have your gallbladder removed? i read the dr. page on dallal that describes all the different info about him and it said that he does not remove the gallbladder. is this good, bad, or not a big deal? also, dr. rabkin removes not only the gall bladder but also the appendix...i think it\'s the appendix? anyone who used him can correct me. dr. dallal\'s page didn\'t say anything about the appendix being removed, but if he doesn\'t, is that important? thanks ahead of time! christi |

Christi,
I think I mentioned Dr Dallal to ya...he\'s down here in Newport Beach, does the surgery at Huntington Beach Hospital...He does the procedure laproscopically, and he does not removed healthy organs. He said that removing organs, ie gall bladder and appendix that show no signs of problems is not necessary. I think it is a personal preference with the surgeons. He is affliated with the New Program, formerly CalSurg. If you call them and ask for information, Dr Dallal WILL call you back, and answer any questions you have. I have spoken to him a couple of times, and have been corresponding with him via email. OH! and I just found out yesterday....I have coverage!! As of October 1st....I will be covered by MRMIP BS PPO! So by Jan1st I will be able to start the process! What a way to start the new year.....and this time I have a secret weapon to take on those pesky new years resolutions! |

uhuhnoway,
that\'s great! i\'m so happy to hear that you will have bs! i have no doubt in my mind that you will get approved for the ds! i mailed a letter (a darn good letter i think) to the state asking to change from bc to bs (mrmip) and i think i just might get what i am asking for. especially since i have good reasons to want a change of carriers as soon as possible (besides wanting to be switched, that is). so are you going to use dr. dallal? i think i will call his office tomorrow. i like dr. rabkin and all, but i really don\'t want to go all the way up to san fran for the surgery. not only that, but i have a feeling it\'s hard to get a hold of the doc himself...i always have to talk to barbara. anyhoo, as long as others can vouch for dr. dallal, i\'ll give him a try and get a consult. i\'m pretty much sure that my gall bladder and appendix are fine anyway. thanks for the reply! christi |
