Default Protein supplements immideately after DS

The nutritionist advised me to have clear protein drinks for the first few weeks after DS. That's fine, but the only ones I've found so far (Profect, Proteinex, New-Whey and Elite) all taste pretty bad. I don't have a problem with them now, but I'm worried I may find them undrinkable (even diluted with water) after surgery.

Does anyone know of a clear protein drink that doesn't taste awful?

Syntrax Nectar Whey Protein Isolate Roadside Lemonade is one, I know they make an iced tea one too. Not the best tasting things in the world but what protein supplements are?! They are clear but gave me bad gas as most protein supplements do. Good luck!

I really liked the Isopure, but the bottled varieties - I didn't care for the mix but loved the ones in the bottles from GNC.

Smile Isopure has bottled

I bought the bottled isopure also. I couldn't hack any of the protien powders, very lactose intollerant.. so isopure makes a coolaid tasting line

I like the Syntrax Roadside Lemonade. They actually taste quite good if you mix with less water than they call for. I also mix it with crystal light lemonade and it makes it taste better. 1 1/2 scoops of Roadside lemonade and 1 packet of individual Crystal Light lemonade to 20 oz water.

Also, Mydietshopz.com has a really good protein chicken boullion. 15 grams of protein and it mixes well.

I had to go through several colonscopies for a non-DS related issue post op. these were my staple clear liquid proteins.

If you're preop, one thing to keep in mind with protein beverages of any kind is that your tastes will change immediately after surgery. Not sure why but maybe someone here could probably explain it medically. Most things taste much sweeter after surgery.

Also, and this is just from my experience and is solely my opinion, don't expect to find a protein drink that you like. They're simply not very good -- at least not like a milkshake or anything

Hopefully you'll find one you can tolerate. Or maybe things have changed since I was using protein supplements because 6-7 years ago they were pretty sucky

You could also consider making your own lactose-free protein drink by blending lactaid, protein powder, agave syrup, ice, a spoon of instant coffee....? I hardly ever touched the commercial protein drinks...I just mixed protein powder into things I could tolerate drinking.

Maybe you could make instant pudding with lactaid and add a scoop of protein powder...I did that.

Also you can make a shake using lactaid, a raw egg, ice, agave, instant coffee.
