hI D2000, yes i am definately going to see my GP about coming off them. i wonder if i could do any harm by just stopping them or do you think i would have to gradually decrease them. Been a little worried about getting facial hair etc. thats why i stayed on them so long.(get the occasional bristle on my chin).x

It's pretty basic stuff and you have been on the wlsinfo forum as well as this site, where it's talked about all the time. You already had that book I mentioned, and in any case could have found out all about them via a search engine if you didn't already know. I am so sorry about the re-gain, and I know what it's like as it happened to me after my Sleeve op, but reading some of your posts on wlsinfo it sounds as if you admit to overeating the "wrong" things in times of stress and "grazing", and that is why you have gained, rather than the Premarin. Did you ever get that re-sleeve you were after? What did Mr Patel say in the end?
If you look at the begining of my posts you will see i didnt even think it was the premarin until it was suggested by D2000 that there might be a connection. I am well aware that my grazing and eating the wrong things is my problem . that is why i am going on the low carb route. Yes i have eaten low carb before when on the Atkins pre op but didnt have much success with it. Its all well reading from a book about this diet but i find it better conversing with people who are in the same situation as me and have experienced my problems . so that is why i wanted a few facts about low carb confirmed.
As far as the re-sleeve is concerned i am hoping that i can get the weight going off again and avoid the surgery again . but i am in the process of waiting for endoscopy at kings but the appointments keep getting cancelled.
I feel like your questioning my motives for being on the boards drewa!!!

Drewa my Gp mentioned that there was a slight risk of cancer and that the advantages to hrt outweighed the disadvantages. I definately dont take it JUST because of the risk of bristles on my chin , i'm not that shallow. I suffered very bad hot flushes and night sweats and needed something because i was seriously effected by the total hysterctomy i had at the age of 44.

Kay that was a long time ago though....maybe you should consider going off the HRT and seeing how you do. The risk is serious of staying on long term. You're probably post-menopausal now anyway.

If your doctor doesn't know that....you need a new doctor.

As far as the hairs on your chin if they happen...pluck them or get electrolysis. They are insignificant compared to cancer.

Don't you have a gynecologist to speak to or an endocrinologist?

I wanted to clarify something - the premarin alone probably isn't responsible for weight gain...but it may certainly be a contributing factor, and like with many things, for some people it may be a bigger factor than for others. Just do some reading about it - it's all right there for anyone with a computer, google, and who feels it worth the time to do a bit of reading.

Kay, what have you been eating for the past few days? Have you incorporated some exercise?

Kay....if you re-sleeve without learning to use the DS as a tool and modifying your diet....the re-sleeve will work temporarily as a restrictor and then you will end up in the exact same place you are now. The DS is not magic. It helps us to help ourselves. I think Drewa's point is that since you are some years post-op and you have been concerned about your weight gain for a while, it is suprising that you have not educated yourself about what the DS requires for long term success.

If dietary changes are not possible for you long term, or not enough to keep you at a healthy weight, then you should perhaps consider shortening your common channel. It is the malabsorptive component of the DS that keeps the weight off long term.

Also, like for many of us, eating is about more than just "feeding" ourselves and you have expressed your inability to control your eating even when you know you should. One thing you might consider is some therapy, to try to deal with the behavioral issues surrounding your eating. It's a big component for many of us, and it's very difficult to accomplish without help.
