Tahiti. Most romantic place on earth in my opinion.

Spent most of my time on Moorea. Opunahu Bay and Cook's Bay are both wonderful. Great shore dives all over the island. Also did a lot of snorkeling all over, day and night.

Went on one dive with one of the locals to feed a 1500lb grouper. He was the size of a Volkswagen. And very friendly. Also went on a shark dive but it was inside the reef so only sand sharks and black and white tip reef sharks. Lots of rays in the shallow sandy areas and they will come to you if you slap your hand on top of the water.

Underwater is like a National Geographic video. I saw Lionfish, all kinds of tropicals, and my personal favorite, the Trigger Fish. Lots of Morays and some sea snakes. Beautiful anemones with Clownfish. And the giant clams have beautiful different colored lips! Saw Spiny Lobsters too. Here's an odd fact for you. Fish in the Caribbean seem to prefer crackers/bread and so do the fish in Tahiti. In Hawaii, they like frozen peas and dogfood.

Went swimming one morning by myself in Cook's Bay. I was way out in the bay and I was joined by a pod of dolphins. They just swam with me. They wouldn't let me touch them. They would stay just out of reach. It was an amazing experience.

I've been to Tahiti 3 times and I would go back in a heartbeat. My favorite cheap hotel has closed so I don't have any recommendations on where to stay.

Awesome. I was in Moorea as well, at the Hilton Lagoon and Spa, overwater bungalow. Would return tomorrow if possible. Likely not in an overwater bungalow though.

Patty,
Tahiti sounds wonderful. What a great experience with the dolphins. We had a sea lion play with us on one dive. He go in between us, and nip at our yellow fins, but would be just out of reach, if we tried to pet him/her. I've watched dolphins follow our with our boat out whale watching in Monterey Bay. I've always wanted to do the Dolphin Experience, but never enough time when it's just a stop off the cruise ship.
